Article Icon 1A Shooting Near the CIA

Security guards outside CIA headquarters in Langley shot and wounded a person early yesterday. A woman in a car failed to stop while driving toward the main entrance around 4 a.m. She was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

A spokesperson for the spy agency called the shooting a “security incident that law enforcement responded to outside CIA headquarters” that led to the closing of the agency’s main gate.

The incident follows a standoff outside CIA headquarters in March that lasted for several hours. In that case, a man with a gun eventually surrendered to authorities.

A pair of Navy SEALs based in Hampton Roads may be disciplined after allegedly sending racist memes that targeted a black sailor in their platoon. The memes were reportedly shared on a Signal chat.

They modified his face in photos to look like a monkey and portrayed him as a chained slave on a slave ship, among others,” a lawyer for the targeted sailor told reporters.

The SEAL who reported the memes allegedly had his Trident—the Special Warfare badge that SEALs earn—revoked for a time. However, sources say the Navy has reinstated it.
