Article Icon 1Title IX Violations Alleged

The federal Department of Education accused five school systems in Virginia of violating Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 because they allow students to use bathrooms and locker rooms based on their chosen gender identity rather than their biological sex.

Fairfax County, Loudoun County, Arlington County, Prince William County, and the city of Alexandria are among the school systems under scrutiny.

These school divisions have been violating federal law, deliberately neglecting their responsibility to protect students’ safety, privacy, and dignity, and ignoring parents’ rights,” Gov. Glenn Youngkin said.

The federal government gave each district 10 days to change their “intimate facilities” policies and “adopt biology-based definitions of the words ‘male’ and ‘female’ in all practices and policies relating to Title IX.

Article Icon 1VT Football Accused of Tampering

North Carolina Central’s head football coach accused Virginia Tech of tampering with one of his players during a game last season.

Virginia Tech was actually on my sideline recruiting our running back,” Trei Oliver said. “That was pretty bold.”

The player, J’Mari Taylor, decided after the season to transfer out of N.C. Central, but ended up at the University of Virginia, not Virginia Tech.

This is the first time the issue has been brought to our attention, and no concern has previously been shared with us through any formal channel,” a statement from the Hokies said. “We are reviewing the matter internally and will address any findings appropriately.”

Investigators are looking into what caused a parked car to explode last week in Arlington’s Crystal City neighborhood.

Three other vehicles were damaged by the flames. Firefighters said they think the first vehicle’s fuel tank ruptured, causing what they called a boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion.

The Arlington fire department extinguished the blaze and said that it “deemed the incident non-suspicious.”

No injuries were reported.

Dear Flyover Reader,

There’s never been a more important time to support The Virginia Flyover.

We’ve got a big announcement coming in a week, and I think you’re going to love it.

In fact, this is the last time we’ll ask for your direct support for a while.

Why?

I can’t say yet, but I can tell you that we could use a boost heading into the announcement. The Flyover family of email publications has grown from a scrappy startup to a new force in the news media landscape, and that’s all because of your support. Now, we’re ready to take things to the next level.

If you’d like to give directly to the news source that’s truly unbiased—that’s for you instead of against you as the mainstream media typically is, this is your last chance for quite a while.

I can’t wait for you to find out about our plans for the future (look for a special message from our Founder next Monday), and I would very much appreciate your donation today.
