Article Icon 1AstraZeneca Building Plant in Albemarle

Pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca broke ground on a $4.5 billion manufacturing facility in northern Albemarle County. Gov. Glenn Youngkin, the administrator of the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and AstraZeneca CEO Pascal Soriot attended the event, along with local leaders.

The plant is expected to make weight-loss and cancer drugs and will employ as many as 600 skilled workers when it opens. Until then, it will employ up to 3,000 construction workers.

It took just 33 days from our first conversation to partnering on this project,” Youngkin said. “That’s moving at Virginia speed.”

The project represents the largest single manufacturing investment AstraZeneca has ever made.

Article Icon 1Nor’easter Rocks Hampton Roads

A strong system of low pressure moving up the Atlantic coast brought tidal flooding and heavy winds to Hampton Roads yesterday. Forecasters warned that flooding could exceed the levels reached during a storm last month.

The storm, known as a nor’easter, was forecast to linger offshore overnight before moving away. Tidal flooding isn’t expected to subside until later today.

A high wind warning was in place for Virginia Beach, with gusts up to 50 mph in the forecast.

At one point yesterday, more than 2,000 households were without power.

A state trooper was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car while assisting a driver on Route 29 in Pittsylvania County. Officers charged 74-year-old Raul Jesus Salas with reckless driving in connection with the incident.

Two Virginia State Police troopers had stopped their patrol cars to block the right lane while they helped the driver of a disabled tractor-trailer on Saturday. Both cars were unoccupied and had their emergency lights flashing.

A Chrysler PT Cruiser reportedly smashed into one of the police cars, which then struck one of the troopers and the second patrol vehicle. The other trooper at the scene was uninjured.

Digital Dollar 2.0 May Be Coming

On July 17, while the press chased shiny objects and Epstein headlines, the House passed the GENIUS Act.

According to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, it’s a bill that contains “the entire setup, groundwork, and infrastructure to move from cash to digital currency.”

What appears to be “modernization” may actually be a transition to programmable money. In other words, a digital currency that could be controlled by the federal government.

When cash dies, access to your savings can become conditional.

That’s not theoretical. Ask Canada’s truckers what happened when their bank accounts were frozen.

This isn’t a currency debate. It’s a sovereignty crisis.

If they control your money, they control you.

You may be out of options, but there’s one move you could take:
