Article Icon 1Loudoun Case Goes to Feds

Virginia’s Attorney General Jason Miyares and the parents of three boys at Stone Bridge High School asked the federal government to look into how Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) handled Title IX complaints against the boys.

Miyares forwarded the results of his office’s investigation to the U.S. Departments of Education and Justice. His report found no evidence that the boys violated federal law.

Earlier this year, a girl—who identifies as a boy—walked into the male locker room and recorded the boys complaining about her presence. LCPS investigated the boys but dismissed two complaints against the girl, even though recording in locker rooms is prohibited.

Students appear to have been targeted not for misconduct, but for expressing their discomfort for being forced to share a locker room with a member of the opposite sex,” Attorney General Miyares wrote.

Violent crime overall is down in Virginia Beach, but reports of violent crime at the Oceanfront are running ahead of last year’s numbers, just as the city prepares to welcome millions of summer visitors.

During one weekend in April, police arrested more than 50 people, responded to multiple cases of gunshots, and seized nearly 30 guns.

Police Chief Paul Neudigate said he can’t solve the problem simply by deploying more cops along the beach. He also recommends increasing the cost of parking, closing some parking lots, and setting a curfew for unattended minors.

Beach visitors spent $2.5 billion in 2023, the last year for which figures are available.

Article Icon 1Virginia Ahead in Personal Income

A new study by WalletHub ranks the Commonwealth first in the nation for household income.

The survey analyzed three factors: the average annual income of the top 5% of earners, the average income of the bottom 20%, and the median income for all residents.

Virginia boasted a median annual household income of $93,275. While that figure is lower than in some other states, the Commonwealth came out on top when taking all three metrics together.

New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Washington rounded out the top five.

Sharing Homes Made Investors Rich. Sharing Data Could Be Bigger

Remember when people said, “Nobody will rent their homes to strangers”? Early Airbnb investors who ignored the skeptics saw $1,000 grow to $5 million at the company’s IPO.

Airbnb grew to $100 billion by unlocking value in homes, and now Mode Mobile is doing the same with an asset owned by 7 billion people—smartphones.

Instead of renting spare rooms, Mode users monetize their screen time:

  • Over 45 million users earn from everyday activities (games, music, charging)
  • Helped users save and earn over $325 million

And with their Nasdaq ticker ($MODE) secured, you now have a limited time to invest at just $0.30/share
