Answer: Jan. 28, 1772. According to the Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative: “Both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson noted in their diaries that 3 feet of snow fell. The Washington-Jefferson snowstorm is Virginia’s biggest snowfall ever recorded.”
