The Virginia Beach Police Department carried out an operation last week to target gang activity. Over three days, officials served eight residential search warrants and brought 74 indictments for gang-related offenses.

Police said they focused on rounding up members of the EBK (Everybody Killer) gang. That group is also associated with the Bounty Hunter Watts gang.

The charges filed include gang participation, recruitment, weapons violations, and drug distribution. Police also brought in 13 firearms, ammunition, and narcotics during the sweeps.

Localities across the state will receive a total of $5.4 million in grants to launch projects in 30 communities, Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced.

The largest beneficiaries were the city of Roanoke and the town of Luray, each receiving a $1 million grant. Luray plans to use its grant to revitalize an old warehouse.

Other locations across Southwest Virginia will get smaller grants, ranging from $50,000 to $300,000.

The governor’s office said the money will help communities create 142 new jobs, expand businesses, and leverage more than $17.6 million in additional public and private investments.

The website WorldAtlas recently ranked the 10 best towns—not large cities—in the Commonwealth based on affordability and amenities.

It also includes Smithfield and Gloucester in the Tidewater region and Fredericksburg in Central Virginia.

These character-driven towns host colonial landmarks, family-friendly parks, award‑winning wineries, and great eateries,” the site reported, “each presenting affordable homes and quality of life.”
