The U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Joint Base Langley-Eustis will close permanently with an inactivation ceremony on Friday.

The Army is shutting down TRADOC after 52 years and will consolidate operations into a Transformation and Training Command, which will be located in Austin, Texas.

It is unclear whether military personnel will be relocated. “If any positions are affected by the inactivation, leadership will work closely with supervisors and impacted employees to find new opportunities,” an Army spokesman said.

Gen. Gary M. Brito, TRADOC’s commander, will retire after more than 38 years in uniform.
