Article Icon 1Loudoun Considers Changes

The Loudoun County School Board held a private session this week in response to a federal demand that it change its locker room and bathroom policies.

The school district currently allows students to use the facilities of their choice without being restricted to those that align with their sex at birth. The government has threatened to cut millions of dollars in funding unless the county changes that policy by August 15.

Before the meeting, parents who support the county’s current policy and parents who oppose it both held rallies.

The board received a lot of info and will continue to process and evaluate this matter,” Chair Melinda Mansfield said. “We will plan to further discuss at our next board meeting,” which is set for Aug. 12.

Article Icon 1UVA Names Interim President

The University of Virginia named law school professor Paul G. Mahoney as its interim president. Mahoney was dean of the School of Law for eight years until stepping down in 2016.

UVA hosted “listening sessions” to hear and understand the issues that most concern members of the university community. The participants’ stated priorities for the school’s next leader include “stabil[izing] and build[ing] trust,” “attracting and retaining talent,” and “academic freedom and protection of research and teaching.”

Mahoney will start work next week. UVA must find a full-time replacement for former president Jim Ryan, who resigned in June under pressure from the Trump administration.

Costs are rising for students at Virginia’s public colleges and universities ahead of the upcoming academic year.

A report from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia said tuition and fees jumped an average of 2.1% year-over-year. The average cost for a four-year state school—including tuition, all mandatory fees, and room and board—is now almost $29,600 per year, up about $900 from 2024.

Even with the increase, students pay about 42% of those costs, on average, with the state covering 58% of the tab.

From a Caltech Garage to a $1 Trillion Market

In 2016, some innovative Caltech robotics students set out to transform fast food. That first garage-built prototype became Miso Robotics.

Since then, Miso’s robots have worked 200K+ hours in live kitchens for brands like White Castle, frying over 4 million baskets of fries, chicken, and more. That traction convinced NVIDIA, Uber AI, and Amazon to help refine Miso’s AI and robots. As restaurants grapple with 144% employee turnover rates and $20/hour minimum wages, that’s a major edge.

It’s no wonder Miso’s first fully commercial robot, Flippy Fry Station, sold out of initial units in one week.

Now, Miso is going nationwide and scaling its U.S.-based manufacturing across a $4 billion/year revenue opportunity. As an investor, you can get up to 8% bonus stock.

Just don’t wait too long; Miso’s share price will change on Aug. 14.

“One of the Largest Industries Ever”

That’s what NVIDIA’s CEO said about robotics. And the numbers back it up. In Q4 2024, the sector raised more capital than in all of 2023.

So it’s a big deal that NVIDIA, Uber AI, and Amazon helped Miso Robotics perfect Flippy, its new fully commercial kitchen robot. No wonder initial units sold out in one week.

Miso already has 200K+ hours under its belt for brands like White Castle. With the $1 trillion fast-food industry facing 144% employee turnover rates, Flippy provides 24/7 labor and can boost profits by up to 3X.

Miso is scaling its US-based manufacturing to seize a $4 billion/year revenue opportunity. As an investor, you can get up to 8% bonus stock.

Just don’t wait too long – Miso’s share price changes on August 14.
