The Alexandria Police Department said it believes former U.S. Attorney Jessica Aber died of natural causes.

The 43-year-old was found dead inside her home last week. Her family said she had suffered from epilepsy and epileptic seizures for many years.

Police noted thatthe investigation is ongoing, and the case will remain open until the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) returns a final ruling on the cause and manner of death.”

Aber, a Biden appointee, had served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2021 until her resignation in January.

Article Icon 1Hokies Protest Revocation of DEI

Hundreds of students, staffers, and graduates marched for hours on the Virginia Tech campus and rallied in favor of diversity, equity, and inclusion policies as the Board of Visitors was meeting to vote on whether to end the school’s DEI programs.

It’s time Virginia Tech checks their definition of Ut Prosim and supports the community,” junior Nick Cavicchio said, citing the university’s Latin motto that translates to “That I may serve.”

Despite the protests, the board voted 12-2 to eliminate the university’s Inclusivity Excellence and Strategy Office as a way to comply with an executive order from President Trump.

According to the decision, Virginia Tech President Tim Sands must report to the board within 30 days about compliance with its resolution. Other state schools, including UVA, VCU, and the community college system, have already taken similar actions to end DEI policies.

A young team will start the MLB season for the Washington Nationals this afternoon as highly-touted prospects, including James Wood and Dylan Crews, make their first appearance on Opening Day.

The Phillies, who won the National League East last season, are in town for a three-game series. Mackenzie Gore, in his third season with the Nats, is scheduled to start.

Washington hasn’t made the playoffs since it won the World Series in 2019. No player from that squad remains on the roster, and its division is stacked with potential playoff teams in Philadelphia, New York, and Atlanta.

Still, hope springs eternal in March at Nats Park.
