Article Icon 1Water Warnings in Richmond

Richmond’s latest boil water advisory may be lifted today if the pressure remains strong and testing indicates the water is safe to drink. Samples collected yesterday must remain free of bacteria for 24 hours.

On Tuesday, the city issued warnings covering much of its service area after clogged filters at a treatment plant caused low water pressure and cloudy water.

Mayor Danny Avula told restaurants and businesses they could remain open if they followed the city’s boil advisory guidelines. Public schools were open for students yesterday.

Nearby water systems were not affected by this advisory, which coincides with a period of heavy rain across the region. In Henrico, which lost service when Richmond’s facilities failed in January, officials said water tanks were filled and ready to deliver water.

Article Icon 1Spanberger Leads Governor’s Race

The latest statewide poll shows Democrat Abigail Spanberger holding a 17-point lead over Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears in the race to be the Commonwealth’s next governor.

The results of the Roanoke College survey mirror another poll conducted by the advocacy group Virginia FREE. That poll showed that the former congresswoman was leading among independent voters, 53% to 47%.

This week, the Earle-Sears’ campaign amended the financial disclosure forms she filed as lieutenant governor to indicate that outside organizations had paid for several previously undisclosed trips.

UVA political expert Larry Sabato cautioned that it is far too early to draw conclusions. “It‘s a long time from November. Everything can change. Everything probably will change,” he said.

Article Icon 1Best Places to Live

According to the U.S. News & World Report ranking of the best places to live in Virginia, Burke claimed the top spot. The city stands out for its job market, median household income, and higher quality of life.

Reston and Arlington were virtually tied at No. 2 and No. 3 on the survey. Hampton Roads is home to the remaining cities in the top 5, with Virginia Beach and Chesapeake ranking fourth and fifth.

U.S. News weighed multiple factors to determine the rankings, with quality of life and economic value leading its criteria.

He’s Already IPO’d Once – This Time’s Different

Spencer Rascoff co-founded Zillow, scaling it into a $16B real estate giant. But everyday investors couldn’t invest until after the IPO, missing early gains.

“I wish we had done a round accessible to retail investors prior to Zillow’s IPO,” Spencer later said.

Now he’s doing just that. Spencer teamed up with fellow Zillow exec Austin Allison to launch Pacaso. Pacaso’s co-ownership marketplace is disrupting the $1.3T vacation home market. They’ve already surpassed $110M in gross profit and $1B in transactions.

They also recently reserved their Nasdaq ticker PCSO. But unlike Zillow, you can invest in Pacaso as a private company.

Become a Pacaso investor at $2.80/share before midnight PST tonight.
