Article Icon 1Korean Company Expanding in Hampton Roads

LS Cable & System Ltd., a South Korea-based company, announced it will invest $689 million to expand its manufacturing facilities in Chesapeake.

The Commonwealth approved more than $8 million in state grants to support the expansion. “I’m proud that Virginia is partnering with LS C&S to strengthen American manufacturing, create great jobs, and build a stronger, more secure future for the Commonwealth and our nation,” Gov. Glenn Youngkin said.

The Korean company is already building a 70-story plant in Chesapeake that will fabricate underwater power transmission cables such as those required by the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project.

The latest project is expected to be the single largest capital investment in the history of the Tidewater region, creating hundreds of jobs.

Virginians will go back to the polls early in the new year, as voters participate in special elections to replace legislators who have resigned to serve in Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger’s incoming administration.

In District 23, Del. Candi Mundon King resigned to become the next secretary of the commonwealth. She has represented parts of Prince William and Stafford Counties since 2021.

In District 11, Del. David Bulova stepped down to become secretary of natural and historic resources. He has represented Fairfax County since 2006. Both special elections are set for Jan. 13.

Spanberger will be sworn in on Jan. 17.

Article Icon 1Eastern District Attorneys Face Challenges

Prosecuting attorneys in the Eastern District of Virginia suffered setbacks last week.

A federal judge ordered the Justice Department to return information it had used to obtain a grand jury indictment against former FBI chief James Comey. She wrote that the data had been used with “callous disregard” for the rights of its owner.

Two different grand juries, one in Norfolk and another in Alexandria, refused to indict New York Attorney General Letitia James on a charge that she engaged in mortgage fraud.

Last month, a different federal judge dismissed cases against Comey and James on the ground that the indictments had been secured by Lindsey Halligan, who had been unlawfully appointed as U.S. attorney.

As of Monday afternoon, Halligan was still listed as “United States Attorney” on the Justice Department’s web page.

➤ This method has been vetted by scientists from the University College Cork. Their studies, made on 674 women dealing with deep wrinkles, dark spots and saggy skin clearly showed how, by simply doing this for 10-seconds in the mirror, they dramatically improved their appearance in less than a few weeks. This odd method is so effective that scientists have deemed it to be 10 times better than retinol but with none of the side effects. 10X Better Than Retinol (With None Of The Side Effects!)
