Article Icon 1Wrong Way Driver Snarls I-264

A reckless driver in Virginia Beach led police on a wild chase, at one point exiting I-264, driving against traffic, and attempting to reenter the interstate going east in the westbound lanes. Police disabled his car by ramming it as it drove up the ramp.

The driver then refused to get out of the vehicle, and traffic was backed up for hours in both directions while police investigated.

Although he refused to identify himself, police learned the driver was 32-year-old Kevin Carlton Williams of Norfolk.

He was charged with three counts of reckless driving, felony eluding, felony assault on a law enforcement officer, and obstruction of justice. He remains in custody awaiting possible further charges.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will attempt to identify what appear to be human remains located over the weekend in Emporia, not far from I-95.

Detectives immediately secured the area and are actively processing the scene,” Police Chief Troy Hawkins said.

It is unclear how long the remains may have been at the scene or what the cause of death may have been.

Article Icon 1Third Measles Case Reported

The first case of in-state transmission of measles was identified in Virginia. It’s the third case of the disease reported overall this year.

Those first two cases, as was reported, were connected to international travel,” Emily Rich, an epidemiologist at the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), said. “This is the first case we’ve seen that is related to another Virginia case.”

The patient is reportedly under 4-years-old and contracted measles in Charlottesville.

VDH warned that anyone who was at SugarBear Ice Cream or Lowe’s Home Improvement in Charlottesville on May 31 between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. may have been exposed. It can take as long as three weeks for symptoms to appear.

Meet the Genius Who Invented Plastic That Dissolves in Water

The world produces 450 million metric tons of plastic waste each year. Microplastics are seeping into our oceans and food. They even show up in our bodies. So you can imagine how revolutionary a new kind of plastic that completely dissolves in water would be.

Here’s why you don’t want to miss this opportunity.

  • Revolutionary plastic that vanishes completely—no microplastics, no landfill waste.

  • 6,000% sales growth in the company’s first month on the market.
