Article Icon 1Spring Breakers Turn Violent in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach police arrested 53 people and filed nearly 200 criminal charges during spring break weekend at Oceanfront.

Officers also responded to multiple reports of shootings and seized dozens of weapons.

Those arrested ranged in age from 14 to 53, and all except the 14-year-old will be charged as adults.

Most of the violence seems to have occurred in the city’s popular resort area. “Unfortunately, not all that visited the Oceanfront area this past weekend came to have a good time; many came with criminal aspirations,” an official statement said.

The Norfolk-based aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman lost an F/A-18E Super Hornet and a tow tractor overboard while operating in the Red Sea. One person was injured in the incident, but no lives were lost.

According to the Navy, the jet’s crew and the operator of the small towing tractor that was moving it both jumped out before the plane slipped off the hangar deck.

The Truman reportedly made a sudden turn to evade an attack from shore, which may have led to the accident.

The ship has been on station for months, contributing to strikes against Iran-backed Houthi fighters in Yemen. An F/A-18E Super Hornet can cost up to $60 million.

Joseph Molineaux, a 59-year-old former teacher, was arrested on the grounds of Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach for trespassing. He did not enter the school building.

Molineaux was detained with two large knives and a hatchet in his vehicle and is charged with possessing a weapon on school grounds and making a felony threat to commit serious bodily harm.

The day before the arrest, he allegedly texted his mother to say that his dog “grounds me and keeps me from going into Walmart or into Kempsville High School with an AK-47 and mowing down administration.” When police searched his home, they found two loaded, AK-style firearms.

Molineaux worked for the school system for 25 years, from 1999 until his retirement in 2023.

Smart Buildings Aren’t Just the Future—They’re Happening Now

The dream of a futuristic smart city—where buildings, traffic, energy use, and air quality are all intelligently connected—sounds like science fiction. But it’s quickly becoming a reality, thanks to advances in the $1.5 trillion Internet of Things (IoT) market.

The challenge? Traditional Wi-Fi networks are too expensive and complex to power this vision at scale.

That’s why massive brands like GigNet and Crayola are tapping into IotaComm’s nationwide wireless network. It’s a lower-cost, more reliable alternative to help bring smarter operations to schools, businesses, and entire communities.

This smart future is not 10 years away—it’s being built right now.

And here’s the best part…
