A fast-moving weather system killed two Virginians and left tens of thousands in the dark over the weekend. Most of the power outages were in Fairfax County.

Both victims died after trees fell on their cars. Some cells of the storms were designated “destructive,” meaning winds reached 80 mph at times.

Officials warned that power lines—possibly live—were on the ground in at least 14 locations.

The same system knocked down trees, cut off power, and damaged homes in the Hampton Roads area, but no injuries were reported.

Attorney General Jason Miyares is investigating the actions taken by Loudoun County Public Schools after the system announced it had opened a Title IX investigation of three boys who complained that a girl—who identifies as a male—was in their locker room.

A local TV station obtained mobile phone video that the female student shot inside the boy’s locker room at Stone Bridge High School. School district policy prohibits any recording in locker rooms.

In the video, boys can be heard asking why there’s a girl in the locker room and saying that they feel uncomfortable with a girl being there. One boy says she should “get out of here.”

Students who express legitimate concerns about sharing locker rooms with individuals of the opposite biological sex should not be subjected to harassment or discrimination claims,” Gov. Glenn Youngkin said.

This summer will be hot in the Commonwealth, and the Virginia Dogwood put together a list of events you might not want to miss this year.

The Virginia Wine Festival starts on May 31 in Tysons. It brings together 30 of the state’s vintners and offers tastes of 200 wines.

A week later, in Norfolk, Harborfest celebrates its 49th year with events including a Parade of Sail featuring international tall ships and a massive fireworks show.

Stay on the water on June 13-15 for the Annual Potomac River Festival in Colonial Beach. Or take to the air in Virginia Beach on June 14 for the Flying Proms Symphonic Air Show, which combines an orchestra, airplanes, and fireworks into one amazing experience.
