Article Icon 1Bad Weekend for Davis Brothers

A champion’s homecoming turned into a lost weekend in Norfolk for boxing’s Davis brothers, known as DB3. All three were scheduled to step into the ring at Scope Arena on Saturday, but only two—Keon and Kelvin—actually fought.

On Friday, WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis weighed in at four pounds over the 135-pound limit, which canceled his bout and forced him to give up his belt.

In the ring, brother Kelvin Davis suffered the first loss of his career when he was beaten by Nahir Albright, who claimed the vacant welterweight title with the victory.

After that fight, Albright said he was attacked backstage by Keyshawn and his youngest brother, Keon. Keyshawn Davis was booted from the arena after that incident. Keon was the only Davis brother to win in the ring, moving to 4-0 with a KO.

Virginia State Police issued a Critically Missing Adult alert for Angelina “Angie” Resendiz, who disappeared from Naval Station Norfolk on May 29.

The missing sailor, 21, is a culinary specialist on USS James E. Williams. Resendiz, who is five feet tall and 110 pounds, has brown eyes and black hair.

Her mother described Resendiz as a reliable person who “does not miss work. Sick, snow, feeling down, she shows up.” She was last seen at the barracks in Miller Hall and is not known to have a car.

NCIS and local authorities are actively investigating. The Navy is cooperating fully with the investigation,” a Navy spokesperson wrote in a statement.

The Virginia Fallen Heroes Memorial Service honored 12 first responders who died this year, either in the line of duty or after years of service.

There are Virginians who are alive today because of these 12 extraordinary men,” Gov. Glenn Youngkin said at the annual ceremony in Henrico. Because of the values that are not only represented, but lived.

Those honored included firefighters, captains, and logistics technicians.

The event was held for the 28th year to honor those “recognized in the Virginia Line of Duty Act for their bravery and dedication.”
