➤ Virginia Beach’s city council voted 10-0 to pause new data center applications for 12 months while it writes rules for the industry. Mayor Bobby Dyer has said the city wants to keep out large-scale data centers built without industry standards. (More)
➤ Chesapeake’s city council, meanwhile, voted 9-0 to approve a data center zoning ordinance limiting the facilities to a conditional use in industrial areas, barring their use of groundwater and pausing new applications for eight months. (More)
➤ Henrico County schools will cap screen time for the youngest students to 15 minutes a day in pre-K and up to 90 minutes through fifth grade. The district will also drop digital homework at the elementary level. (More)
